Maca Hot Chocolate

As the weather is cooling down, I'm all about warming beverages. Anything that boosts my immune system is a plus! Maca is highly nutritious; perfect for this season of year and where we are in a pandemic and in need of an extra boost to keep us healthy. I love how this hot beverage offers the sweetness that you get from a dessert, but without being loaded with sugar AND the extra boost of nutrition the maca offers. Perfect way to warm up after a rainy walk or cozied up in front of a movie for date night at home.  This recipe takes less than 10 minutes to make too! Or make ahead and warm up as needed. Enjoy everyone!

SERVES 2

PREP 5-8 mins / TOTAL TIME 5-8 minutes

Ingredients

~ ½ cup @enjoylifefoods Semi-Sweet Chocolate - Mega Chunks

~ 2 cups @earthsowncanada Unsweetened Oat M*lk

~ ½  tsp vanilla extract

~ 1 tsp white maca

~ Pinch of salt

~ Optional: 1 Tbsp melted coconut oil if using blender

Steps 

1.Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. On a low to medium heat, whisk occasionally until chocolate chunks have melted. Turn off the heat.

2. If serving without the coconut oil, whisk continuously for 1 minute until mixture is frothy. Serve immediately. If you are choosing to blend with the coconut oil (makes for a thicker, frothy texture), place hot chocolate mixture and melted coconut oil into a blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until frothy. Serve immediately.
